PT Transcon Indonesia organized a Public Speaking Webinar with the theme “Be Confident and Build Your Skill”. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of public speaking in the professional world and to provide guidance on how to develop public speaking skills in the workplace.
The webinar took place on Saturday, May 28, 2022, and featured renowned speaker Adri Suyanto, widely known as the “Bachelor of Humor” and a seasoned public speaking trainer. Adri shared insights on the importance of public speaking and practical tips to improve it.
Infused with humor, Adri reminded participants that being smart is not enough in today’s world. Intelligence must be accompanied by strong public speaking skills in order to express ideas effectively and make a meaningful impact.
"Nowadays, appearing smart often brings more luck than actually being smart," Adri said.
He emphasized that public speaking is not only essential for career development, but also crucial in daily life.
Adri acknowledged that many people fear public speaking due to factors such as fear of failure, lack of self-confidence, traumatic past experiences, fear of judgment, or perfectionism. However, he reassured participants that:
“Public speaking is fun,” he said.
He added that everyone is born with the ability to speak in public, but this skill can vary depending on environment and personal effort.
Adri encouraged everyone to start improving their public speaking abilities, stating that it’s never too late. He shared three main methods to develop this skill:
-
Understand the structure and content of your speech
-
Practice voice, body movement, and use tools like mirrors or cameras
-
Be consistent (kulina)—never give up and keep practicing
Like any skill, public speaking requires regular and continuous practice, just like writing.
"Even the best writers have to keep writing and reading to stay sharp," he noted.
Adri concluded that great public speaking comes from self-confidence, which helps make your message clear and impactful to your audience.
Participants were highly enthusiastic during the 90-minute webinar, which ran from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM WIB. All questions—whether raised directly or via Zoom chat—were thoroughly answered by the speaker.
